The 35mm sensor and PL mount lens combination creates the same depth of field as film. For massive savings on lens hire use readily available Nikon 35mm SLR lenses with the Nikon lens adapter. Interchange your lenses for ultimatte creativity married to the beautiful imagery and 35mm film depth of field. Each shot can be viewed on low cost hdmi monitors output from the camera and replayed instantly to check the action. Slow motion recording is currently available at 80fps at 2k resolution and 120fps using the uncompressed raw port.
The red camera 4K acquisition and desktop workflow options is the dream ticket for independant filmmakers. Record 4K, transfer & backup to your desktop computer, output offline to any quicktime format on Mac or PC for editing. Re-compile final edit in 4K and output to any chosen digital image format and then onto film out if required. You can use any basic laptop or desktop computer to edit your offline then simply recompile at 4K.
Four channels of audio can be recorded onboard the camera. Audio can now be edited and mixed on the desktop for surround sound in FCP Studio 2/Logic on the Mac or a similar program on a PC. Take the programing mix to a studio as budget allows.

Colour correction can now be completed on the desktop with 'Color' in Final Cut Pro or another colouring program in your favoured NLE. Third party colouring programs such as 'Assimilate Scratch' can be used with native Redcode RAW data. You can output to your chosen lower cost video format, say HD 1080p and use this affordable copy to then raise money for a film out. As digital cinema projection increases worldwide a film out may not be needed in future. Either way your film is future-proofed and available to be re-compiled for ultimatte projection quality at anytime
